Rubber and plastics coated

What to expect

🪄 Degreased and steam cleaned

We remove any oil spills and light grease build ups from the engine block and chassis.

We steam clean the intricate parts of the engine compartment to avoid any potential electric shorts. The engine bay is thoroughly dried and wiped down.

✨ Shiny and protected

Once the engine bay is properly washed, we apply a protective coating on all plastic, metal and rubber components. This coating helps reduce dirt built up and improve the longevity of the hoses and plastics under high temperatures.

🔍 Easier to inspect and maintain

Detailing the engine bay provides an opportunity to inspect various components and identify potential issues early on. During the cleaning process, technicians may spot signs of leaks, loose hoses, or worn-out belts, enabling you to address these problems before they escalate into more significant and costly repairs. Regular engine bay detailing serves as a preventive measure, keeping your vehicle in top-notch condition and reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns on the road.

Got a few questions?

What types of engine bays do you detail?

We detail engine bays for all types of vehicles from old and classic cars to brand new modern vehicles. Of course our approach is very different depending on the level of exposure of sensitive components like electronic cables, carburettors, air intake placement and many other factors.

We have successfully cleaned engine bays for Holdens LS1 and old v8 motors, modern BMWs like X7 and 3 series, classic BMWs like e36 and e30, modern Volvos, VWs, late model Toyota Prado and old Trooper Toyota, as well as many others.

What is engine bay detailing?

Engine bay detailing is the process of washing all visible components of the engine compartment from the top view. This includes the bonnet cover, fender gaps, radiator, and of course the engine block.

We also remove any leaves and debris stuck between the windshield and the bonnet, as well as behind the shock towers. This ensures better water drainage and an improved appearance of the engine bay. The insulation rubbers need to be regularly cleaned and degreased to ensure a prolonged life.

How do you detail an engine bay?

Engine bay detailing starts with thorough inspection and preparation. We look for any major leaks or issues that we need to deal with, discover any exposed cables and air intake holes. Sensitive electronics are then covered and all holes are plugged, where we need to eliminate water exposure. We then vacuum any debris around the engine bay compartment.

If it is safe to do so we start with a pressure washer pre rinse, covering the bonnet, bonnet jambs, engine covers, radiator and its covers, as well as all hoses and other components in the engine bay. Next we apply a foaming shampoo mixed with a degreaser. We then use a range of brushes to agitate the foam and any extra degreasing spray under the hood and engine bay area. All the foam is then rinsed off with a pressure washer.

If the engine bay requires steam cleaning, we set off to use a dedicated set of brushes and tools for the engine bay detailing. The components are carefully steamed and wiped down with microfibre towels. This limits the amount of water exposure, as well as producing higher degreasing cleaning power.

Once the engine is washed we use a powerful blower to completely dry the engine bay and remove any excess water build ups. Then we inspect the results and use a cleaning spray and microfiber towels for spot cleaning. And finally we apply a protective spray dressing on all parts of the engine bay.

How much does it cost to detail and engine bay?

We charge $100 for any engine bay detail, whether it is a modern sedan or a classic 4WD. This makes it simple for our clients to know the exact price upfront and avoid wasting time on numerous quotes.

What do I need to provide?

We ask for access to water and electricity. Let us know if there is no tap or power point within 20 metres from your parked car.

Can I park my car on the street for the wash?
